Taking photos of plants and flowers is fun, accessible and educational. In this article, we will share four tips for photographing plants and flowers, simply indoors and without any extra attributes. Read them through and get started!
1. Backlight
Photographers love backlighting in photography. It is a good idea to play with every topic. But certainly also with plants or flowers! By using backlight you can see much better the veins and structure in the leaves of a plant without enhancing it with a free pc photo editor. You look through it a little bit, as it were, at the spots that a leaf is thinner. This is also the case with flowers, also, you can see the shadows of leaves that are in front or behind each other, which brings more dynamism into the photo.
2. Get closer
Flowers and plants are beautiful anyway. But the closer you get, the more beautiful they usually get. That’s when you see the texture or the details. How special is it that nature can grow something like this on its own! When you put the orchid in the sun, for example, you can see that the petals contain a kind of glitter that sparkles in the bright sunlight.
3. Water drops
You probably have a plant spray somewhere in the house. With this you can do very nice things in your photos! The small droplets of water remain well on the leaves of flowers and plants. Then make sure that you place the plant or flower near a light source that shines on the drops, this gives the best effect. This makes the drops extra ‘3D’ in your photo. And sometimes they even shimmer like for example in the 3rd photo below.
4. Flashlight
Do you want to illuminate a part of the plant in a very targeted way? Then take a flashlight and illuminate your subject from different angles. This allows you to immediately see what the effect is and what you like in your photo, and you may not need to edit with a free pc photo editor. The smaller the flashlight, the more focused the light, making shadows harder and illuminating a smaller area.
